From 13 to 17 November 2024, Spilinga will be the stage for Mediterranea Food Week, an event dedicated to the Mediterranean Diet and its roots, celebrating Calabrian agri-food products and promoting food education. Five days of events, workshops, show-cooking and tastings to discover the secrets of the Calabrian gastronomic tradition.
It starts on Wednesday 13 November with ‘Taste is simplicity’, with a sensory cooking workshop and showcooking dedicated to extra virgin olive oils, in collaboration with the Consorzio Olio di Calabria IGP.
The following day, Thursday 14 November, there will be a conference on how the Mediterranean Diet can be an antidote for health, followed by the awards ceremony for food and wine excellence with the ‘Mediterranean Food Oscars’.
Friday 15 November will be the turn of ‘Nutrition and Innovation’, with a meeting dedicated to the Mediterranean Diet and the development of the territory, and guided visits to local producers, including the famous nduja of Spilinga.
Saturday 16 November, focusing on longevity, will see the ‘Health Walk’ in the historic centre of Nicotera, a conference on the role of the Mediterranean Diet in prevention, and showcooking.
The event will end on Sunday 17 November with a day dedicated to the territory and food and wine, with a workshop by the sea on the preparation of fileja, one of Calabria's typical pastas.
