For lovers of Lucio Battisti and Maurizio Vandelli, an unmissable concert is coming up at the Politeama Theatre in Catanzaro: ‘’Vandelli sings Battisti‘’ on 21 March 2024 at 21:00.
The event is part of ‘’Fatti di Musica 2025‘’, the 39th edition of the Festival-Premio del Live d'Autore conceived and directed by Ruggero Pegna, a historic festival of the Region of Calabria. The former leader of Equipe 84, one of Italy's most charismatic musicians, will be awarded the Riccio d'Argento by Crotone's master goldsmith Gerardo Sacco, the festival's prestigious oscar, in the section dedicated to the ‘’Myths of Songwriting‘’.
What will be staged on this unique stage in Calabria is a live performance of over two hours of intense emotions with some of Lucio Battisti's most important and beloved songs rearranged and interpreted by Maurizio Vandelli with a group of five musicians. One after the other we will hear memorable hits, including the most popular songs of Equipe 84, the band that in 1967 took 29 September, the first smash hit composed by Lucio Battisti, to number one in the charts. Songs that led the hit parade for years, re-proposed with a current sound but in the live performance respecting the original versions.
At the centre of the stage is a maxi screen on which the lyrics of the songs scroll, just so that the whole theatre can sing along. There will also be guest friends who will virtually duet with Maurizio Vandelli from the big screen: Dodi Battaglia with ‘Il tempo di morire’, Fausto Leali with ‘Pensieri e parole’, Donatella Rettore with ‘Il mio canto libero’ and Shel Shapiro with ‘Io vivrò’.
