The live concerts of the "Jazz Today" music review, organised by the Lamezia Terme venue Vecchio Mattatoio Tabacchi in collaboration with Agimus of Catanzaro, continue.

The elegant and courageous choices made by the young Massimo Arzente, the manager of the venue, have traced the guidelines of the events that have wanted to give greater strength to the cultural movement of venues in the city of Lamezia Terme, combining numbers and quality, demonstrating a marked sensitivity in favour of true Culture.

On Friday 26 January 2024 at 9:30pm, the venue will host Egidio Ventura Trio with a project born out of a passion for two fundamental musical styles: Jazz and Latin music. The work is an eclectic amalgam of inspired melodies and complex harmonies and arrangements within the search for a new musicality.

The Trio re-proposes a repertoire de dicated almost entirely to the famous Brazilian composer Antonio Carlos Jobim, original compositions of great immediacy, with solo interventions by the musicians, who seem to have found in Latin jazz the cradle of their artistic ideas. In the music and pianism of Egidio Ventura, Latin atmospheres are evident, moving on a very suggestive and personal jazz terrain. A musical world, which highlights the musician's personal and highly original interpretative vein. The pianist will be accompanied by Anfrea Brissa on double bass and Giovanni Caliò on drums.

The Trio is a formation that knows how to give Jobim's music its rightful sound dimension; with a considerable amount of technical and expressive information, with an extended and in-depth timbral vocabulary, which draws the audience towards those particular rhythmic scans and balanced colourings that Latin territories and sounds still maintain at the forefront of the contemporary music scene.

The Artistic Director of the "Jazz Today" Festival, Maestro Andrea Brissa, declares, "the public, which has participated in large numbers in the various events, has rewarded our adventure by attending the concerts, thus giving us all the more reason to continue along our path, in the hope that in the future we will change those repetitive musical programmes, with predictable performers and limited repertoires; this is not meant to be a critical attitude, but an honest analysis of the state of things as they are in reality".

The "Jazz Today" Review will continue with other appointments in the following months on a fortnightly basis; the new programme schedule will be announced in the next few days. Reservations are appreciated for the concert.
