The success of the review Jazz Today, good quality music does not stop. It continues its march at a fast and furious pace, with concerts and projects that are thrilling the large audience that has always been present at past events.

On Friday, 9 February 2024, a Dixieland band called "Jericho Dixieland Jazz Band" will take the stage. There are 7 musicians that make up the band, Giuseppe Maggisano Banjo and Voice, Lorenzo Varano Trombone, Piero Vallone Trumpet, Antonino Davoli Tuba, Francesco Davoli Euphonium and Trombone, Flavio Nicotera on clarinet, Tommaso Maggisano Drums. Since its inception, the musical idea of the Jericho Dixieland Jazz Band has been a consequence of the fusion of strong musical personalities and the desire to recover the jazz repertoire of the first decades of the 20th century.

The band, active since 2005, boasts a musical experience of around 1000 concerts, managing to assimilate and make the Dixieland and swing repertoire their own. Specialisation in the genre has led the musicians in a continuous evolution and sound research, making them consolidate a repertoire of more than 60 songs made up of traditional standards and modern pieces rearranged in a Dixieland key to suit the band. The resulting sound product has a quality and originality that is inimitable throughout southern Italy. Depending on the events where it is employed, the band can perform the musical show both on the road (touring) and from a fixed position, identifying with the event organisers the most suitable moments and under what circumstances the musical intervention can increase the joy and conviviality among the guests and/or the public. The proposed repertoire includes the best-known dixieland and swing-era pieces by great artists of the past such as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and Glenn Miller. The contemporary pieces, reinterpreted in a Dixieland key, depart from the standard structures but retain a clear sound characteristic of the band.

The concert will be held at the well-known venue in Lamezia Terme, the Vecchio Mattatoio Tabacchi in Corso Numistrano at 9.30 p.m. with free admission, with the collaboration of Agimus of Catanzaro. The Artistic Direction is entrusted to Maestro Andrea Brissa. Reservations are appreciated for the concert.
