Jazz Today!

Artistic Director Maestro Andrea Brissa presents the first event of the "Jazz Today!" musical review, featuring the band Plug&Play Funky and more.

A line-up led by singer Francesca Calabrò on vocals, Giuseppe Viggiano on guitar, Frank Marino on bass, and Giuseppe Pastore on drums. The super band will take a journey through time, through all the contaminations of funk and dance with a show characterised by original sounds and unique arrangements, at the service of music professionals who will entertain the guests attending the concert, creating the right atmosphere at every stage of the event. The band's repertoire will range across different musical genres, favouring compositions ranging from pop to soul-jazzy, ideal for an elegant evening, to funky-dance music.

The leader of the group will be Francesca Calabrò, an avant-garde and never pretentious artist, who certainly ranks among the most intense and talented voices on the Calabrian music scene. She is a refined and meticulous musician, a visceral and authentic performer, who over the years of her career has been able to constantly renew and reaffirm herself on the scene, competent and credible in all her recordings and performances. In her live performances, she is accustomed to giving the audience the best of herself, emotions and feelings take centre stage in a near-perfect set list that ranges in repertoire from pop to soul-jazzy.

In the line-up a guest of funky/jazz music, Frank Marino bass player from Cosenza, who studied with Marcus Miller, John Patitucci and Alain Caron. He has collaborated with nationally and internationally renowned musicians such as: Amit Chatterjee (Joe Zawinul Syndicate), with whom he has recorded a CD and toured extensively, Israel Varela, Peter Degirolamo, Antonio Onorato, Walter Sitz, David Howard, Tullio De Piscopo, Joe Amoruso, Ernesto Vitolo, Achille Succi, Allan Holdsworth and many other musicians on the international scene.

Plug&Play Funky and more... with their show, they will bring to the audience the emotions of soul, modern r&b and international funky-dance with an elegant and original taste. The concert will take place on 10 November 2023 at 21.30 at the Vecchio Mattatoio Tabacchi venue in Lamezia Terme. Admission to the concert is free, booking is appreciated.
