Regione Calabria
On 10 March 2024, the Val di Neto cycle-pedestrian path will be inaugurated in the Crotone area. This new route runs along the Neto river through the unspoilt landscape of Calabria's main valley (together with that of the Crati river), encountering valuable naturalistic areas, Sites of Community Interest (SCI), Special Areas of Conservation (SAC) and Special Protection Areas (SPA).
The cyclo-pedestrian route extends for about 38 km, crosses the heart of the Marchesato and connects the Crotonese municipalities of Caccuri, Belvedere di Spinello, Santa Severina, Rocca di Neto, Scandale and Strongoli, allowing cyclists to appreciate the marvellous historical, archaeological and religious heritage that distinguishes this territory with its castles, rock caves, sanctuaries and hermitages. This work, which about halfway from Lake Ampollino joins up with the Ciclovia dei Parchi della Calabria (Calabria Parks Cycle Route), has been realised through the reconversion of an ancient mule track with the aim of minimising environmental impact by using eco-friendly materials and reducing anthropic loads.
On Sunday 10 March at 10.00 a.m. at Corazzo Bridge in Scandale (KR) for the inauguration of this beautiful cycle path.
