Gijtonia: inclusive festival in the village of Plataci

Plataci, Pllatëni in Arbëreshë, is a small village of Albanian origin in the upper Ionian coast of Cosenza, located at 930 meters above sea level. in a panoramic position on the eastern side of the Pollino massif.

It preserves the culture, the Greek-Byzantine rite and partly the language of the Albanian ancestors; the costume, now not used for decades, is worn only on the occasion of the vallje or cultural events. Gjitonia is a festival dedicated to entertainment and art, with the presence of street artists, food stands and concerts. Organized with the desire to satisfy and realize for two days the needs of those who get excited by observing an artist who performs in a particular corner of the community, and of anyone who wants to share a moment of socialization and leisure. Gjitonia: the term refers to the arberëshë urban-social fabric. Place of social exchange where relationships and bonds of great anthropological interest are established, moments of community and sharing ("neighbourhood").
