The Feast of the Calabrian Tarantella in Saracena, in the province of Cosenza, is one of the most fun occasions to get to know and practice the typical dance of the regional tradition.

The 9th edition of the Feast of the Calabrian Tarantella takes place on 22 and 23 June 2024 and includes two evenings of music, folklore, food and wine and tradition.

The Feast of the Calabrian Tarantella stages the dance of couples (man-woman, man-man or woman-woman) within a circle of people called a "ròta" (wheel), to which the players belong. The dance master is at the service of the dancers and players and decides the order in which the members of the ròta may enter the dance, in turns. The steps of the Calabrian taranta are based on triplets, with the arms assuming different positions for the man (courtship, challenge, fight, etc.) and for the woman (Greek giara symbol of fertility, on the hips, under the breast).

Saracena, among the towns of the Calabrian tarantella, is one of the unmissable destinations for those visiting Calabria in the summer, with entertainment, excursions in the Pollino National Park, and tastings of delicious local products, such as the prized "Slow Food" Moscato di Saracena wine
