Civita Nova Radicarsi

Civita Nova Radicarsi intends to valorise the historical centre of Castrovillari, with a view to contaminating history and modernity, tradition and art, culture and territory. The idea is to give life to a container of wide-ranging events that realises moments of culture and entertainment using the spaces, monuments, streets, and open spaces that make the Castrovillari Civita a true living room of the town's history. The presence of late-medieval structures such as the Aragonese Castle and the Franciscan Protoconvent built by Blessed Pietro Catin in 1221 will make it possible, in an integrated perspective, to create a cultural attractor that will add value to the various initiatives staged during the event. Ample space will be dedicated to the promotion of identity agricultural products and local gastronomy, also through the use of the rural food festival logo. In particular, it is intended to realise the following events:

• Radicarsi, classical, jazz and ethno-popular music concerts, sports and wellness, urban trekking to discover the historic centre, street arts and performances;

• Utopias of living, activities for the valorisation and recovery of urban spaces through regeneration works, restoration of artistic spaces and debates on the conversion of abandoned buildings, workshops, guided tours with the involvement of the castrovillari museum system and official park guides.

• Rural Food Festival, a moment of contamination between high-level gastronomy and the great popular culture of the territory, to educate taste, traditional food, rediscovering the ancient recipes and the cornerstones of food culture, knowledge also in a cultural key of the high quality products of the region, to focus on their valorisation as a flywheel for the development of the territory's economy. The Cipolla Bianca di Castrovillari De.Co., the Fagiolo Poverello Bianco De.Co. inter-municipal bean involving the municipalities of Mormanno, Laino Borgo and Laino Castello and the Moscato di Saracena are some of the products that will be used and rediscovered during the event. The aim is to make the user discover the excellence of the territory, in an experiential journey. The Rural Food Festival section includes guided tours, educational workshops, show cooking and tastings.
