In Luzzi, Carnival is lived in the sign of tradition with two events that tell the most authentic soul of the festival.

On 1 March, the night is filled with songs with ‘A Supprissatara’, an ancient singing and folkloristic performance rooted in local culture. According to tradition, groups of people move from house to house to bring wishes of joy and prosperity to the inhabitants, singing the characteristic song that gives the event its name.

On 4 March, however, Carnival reaches its conclusion with the goliardic funeral procession of ‘Nannuzzu Carnulivaru’. A satirical rite that stages a real carnival funeral, with coffin, funeral music and desperate lamentations, marking the transition from the joyous chaos of the festival to the silence of Lent.
