Christmas 2022, Calabria Straordinaria illuminates Milan

In Milan, there is a glittering piece of Calabria Straordinaria to make its mark on this Christmas 2022. Indeed, the Region of Calabria is the main sponsor of the Senstation on Ice project, a tourism promotion hub set up at Milan's Central Station. It is the largest Ice Rink ever set up in the Lombard capital, with various structured activities to promote the tourist offer, including images, videos and targeted events. From 7 December to 8 January 2023, a new narrative of Calabria and its four seasons will be staged in the spaces of Milan's Central Station as part of the Calabria Straordinaria project, promoted by the Department of Tourism. The initiative, also approved by the Ministry of Tourism, aims to intercept a large segment of the public, while also strengthening the visibility and repositioning of Calabria, in continuity with the communication and promotion activities carried out previously. A few numbers: the hub has 1,300 square metres of ice path, 1,500 square metres of stage design and a giant 18-metre wonder tree with 15,000 LED lights. The interior features a setting inspired by Calabria Straordinaria.

Calendar of events

Wednesday, 7 December: official opening of Senstation On Ice inside the dome Calabria Straordinaria, the lighting of the Tree of Wonders, decorated with the soldanella flower - the symbol of Calabria - and the performance on the Ice Rink by the figure skating schools ASGA of Como and ICE LAB of Bergamo. This will be followed by tastings of typical regional products.

8 December at 5 p.m.: Seminar "The new routes of sports tourism between passion and business". During this meeting, USSI awards will be presented to a number of journalists who have distinguished themselves in reporting on great sporting exploits.

17 December at 5 p.m.: a panel "Calabria Straordinaria: between cinema, culture and territorial promotion" is scheduled.

19 December at 5 p.m.: "Calabria, a journey into the exotic of Europe". There will also be free tasting activities, subject to availability, to which all those who take advantage of the Senstation On Ice attractions will be able to gain access, by handing over a special soldanella-shaped chip.

The specific dates of the tastings of typical Calabrian products by the Regional Union of Chefs of Calabria: 7/8/9/10/17/18/19 and 20 December in the afternoon; 6 and 7 January 2023 in the afternoon.
