The Ice Nativity in Locri

Starting at 4:00 p.m., Piazza dei Martiri in Locri will host a unique artistic performance. The public will be able to watch the live creation of a Nativity scene entirely carved in ice by Master Luca Mazzotta, Italian champion and world runner-up in ice sculpture.
With skill and precision, the artist will transform imposing blocks of ice into figures of St. Joseph, the Virgin Mary, and the Baby Jesus, creating a luminous installation that blends the sacredness of the Christmas tradition with the language of contemporary art. This ice Nativity scene, enhanced by an evocative play of light, will create a magical and atmospheric setting in the heart of the city.
The performance, which in recent years has enchanted numerous Calabrian villages and achieved great success, is part of “Locri on Ice”, an initiative promoted by the Municipality of Locri that transforms Piazza dei Martiri into a Christmas village with events and attractions for young and old alike.
The evening will conclude with a concert by Trio Italico, an ensemble formed by violinists Andrea Micieli, Pasquale Allegretti Gravina, and Antonio De Paoli, who will delight the audience with the sounds of great music.
