Salgemma Lungro Festival

The Salgemma Lungro Festival, organised by Piano-B, is back again this year.

The large Arbëreshë community is ready to welcome, and animate itself, a series of events dedicated to enhancing the historic Lungro Saltgemma mine and Calabria. For the first time, the festival has the honour of being recognised and sponsored by the Fondazione Italia Patria della Bellezza, which aims to identify, support and grow the virtuous realities already operating in every Italian province, with projects for the protection, enhancement and creation of beauty.

The official presentation of the Festival to citizens will be held on Saturday 13 July at 6.30 p.m. at the Historical Museum of the Salt Mine. On the same occasion, the programme of activities on the programme from 13 July to 30 August 2024 will be announced in detail, as well as important surprises concerning the national development of the Festival project dedicated to Lungro. 

The opening festival will start with "SALI&SAPORI", a tasting of typical products from Lungro and live music by the duo Antonio Belmonte & Andrea De Fazio.

The ideas for the Salgemma Lungro Festival were born around salt: salt, a necessary element for life, useful for health, substantial for the economy, art and history of the place. Salt used to preserve, and metaphorically make memories last, the very life of the community.
The activities of the festival are divided into different sections, such as live concerts with artists in the "SERENATE DI SALE"; dedicated to children will be "SALI&SAPONI", with the fires and magic of street artists. And again "SALE FINO", the section reserved for young rock music lovers, without forgetting the typical products offered in the "SALI&SAPORI" tastings. Events will invade the squares, alleys, theatres and natural amphitheatres.
