Princesa for many is the title of a famous song by Fabrizio De André. But few know that the song is about a real person, Fernanda Farias De Albuquerque, nicknamed Princesa, or Princess, by a restaurateur she worked for.

Princesa is a little boy who does not recognise himself in his body, and from an early age wants to be a girl.

She wears make-up, plays with dolls, desperately wants to be other than her body. He then begins a difficult and desperate journey from a small rural village in Brazil to the big European metropolis; the common thread of this journey is the constant search for an emotional sexual identity. She will discover sexuality with men and will want to modify herself, changing her body.
