From 4 to 7 September 2025, Locri will once again immerse itself in the heart of myth with the second edition of MitiCu!, the Festival of Myth and Greek Culture promoted by GAL Terre Locridee. After Antigone, this year the festival turns the spotlight on Dionysus, the god of intoxication, transformation and contradiction, choosing “Dionysus, the double god” as its main theme.

In the evocative spaces of the Corte del Palazzo di Città, the programme includes theatre performances, meetings with authors, screenings, readings and performances that explore the myth of Dionysus in all its forms: from the sacred to the profane, from the ancient to the contemporary.

From Cesare Pavese's translation of the Hymn to Dionysus to the intense performance of “The Bacchae” by the Archivio Zeta theatre company, to a tribute to Jim Morrison, an emblematic figure of poetic transgression, the Festival explores the tension between order and chaos, mask and truth, identity and metamorphosis.

The programme also includes moments of reflection, such as the presentation of the book Pasolini e la Calabria (Pasolini and Calabria) by Carlo Fanelli, the first step in a journey that links myth to writing and to our territory.

In a participatory vein, the Let's Move marathon will involve adults and children alike in an itinerary through the streets of the city, in an embrace between memory and the present.

As a prologue to the Festival, on 31 July, the exhibition “Dionysus is here” by artist Massimo Sirelli, curated by Stefania Fiato, will open in the rooms of the Casino Macrì, in the Archaeological Park of Locri Epizefiri, and will be open to visitors until 30 September.
