The soundtrack of Italian neorealism was very important for the development of Italian cinema. Since the advent of sound, the image and sound industries have been twins. Cinema was empowered through radio and records, and vice versa. The soundtracks, leitmotifs and songs associated with films were part of the power of cinema. But the record also became a way to project oneself in one's head by listening to it. "8mm of soundtracks" is a concert dedicated to the appreciation of Italian film music from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, the years of the Roman dolce vita, years in which cinema and music together determined an entirely original strand so as to become part of film history.
