What is the Hospitality Festival

We are on the Costa degli Dei, in the town of Nicotera, the capital of the Mediterranean Diet in Calabria and a splendid historic centre to visit.

Here, in 2015, a group of virtuous young people ‘returning’ from experiences outside the region, proposed an innovative model of tourism development, in the name of sustainability and local identity, which, little by little, became a true Festival of Hospitality.

What does the Festival of Hospitality (Nicotera) consist of? 

It is a movement of professionals, operators and citizens operating with a common vision: to start again from the communities by working on identity-based, sustainable and integrated projects and on new forms of tourism that aim to create an economy of the "Common Good" and not a tourist "product" for its own sake, rethinking places as "hospitable destinations".

The Festival of Hospitality is both territorial, as it allows citizens to actively participate in the organisation of the three-day event by constructing their own local narrative, and national, as it is the only one of its kind in Italy, attracting professionals who come to Nicotera each year to discuss issues of common interest.

Hospitality Festival: 2025 programme

A moment of confrontation but also of conviviality and entertainment to be experienced all together, the Hospitality Festival offers a rich programme every year, condensed into a four-day event that comes alive with conferences, debates, workshops and moments of entertainment.

This year the Festival of Hospitality takes place in the historic centre of Nicotera from 11 to 14 September. As usual, the festival includes a series of talks and round tables, educational and training sessions, immersive experiences to discover and experience the host country, and some ‘community’ moments.    

Everything ends with the unmissable "Sunday Lunch": the table around which inhabitants and visitors share an authentic Calabrian-style Sunday lunch.
