In Caulonia, Holy Week is an evocative journey among popular faith, spirituality and ancient rites handed down through time. From 12 to 20 April 2025, the village comes alive with solemn celebrations and processions that recount the Passion of Christ through a liturgy rich in pathos and collective involvement.
Among the most anticipated moments:
- ‘A Bussata’ (13 April - Palm Sunday), with the blessing of palms and the traditional “Gira”;
- ‘I Tri Sirati’ (14-15 April), with adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and guided meditations;
- ‘Cristu a Culonna’ (16 April), an intense Stations of the Cross through the streets of the historic centre and the ceremony of kissing Christ at the Column;
- ‘A Chjamata’ (18 April - Good Friday), with the touching procession of the Virgin of Sorrows and the Dead Christ;
- ‘U Caracolu’ (19 April - Holy Saturday), culminating with the Easter Vigil;
- ‘A Svelata’ (20 April - Easter Sunday), a moment of celebration and rebirth, with the solemn Mass and the meeting between the Madonna and the risen Christ.
