Gasperina Living Nativity Scene

The historic centre of Gasperina will once again host a Living Nativity Scene, which over the years has attracted thousands of visitors from all over Calabria and was recognised in 2022 as one of the ten most beautiful and evocative in Italy. The 22nd edition, scheduled for 27 and 28 December 2025 and 1 January 2026 from 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm in Piazza Fermi, has as its theme Pilgrims of Hope. The event, organised by the Il Sotterraneo Association, is a moment of tradition and participation that involves the entire community and local associations, becoming an integral part of the history of the area.

This is not the usual Living Nativity Scene, but an active, guided and acted tour that takes visitors along approximately one kilometre of alleys animated by 180 extras, actors and technicians from the association. The costumes are made by the association's tailoring workshop with the help of women from the community, while the sets, with attention to every detail, are built by volunteers thanks to the creative reuse and recycling of materials, creating a sustainable installation that transforms the streets of the village into an immersive story.
