Gasperina Living Crib

A unique living crib, which has attracted thousands of visitors from all over the region over the years, returns to the alleyways of Gasperina's historic centre. Re-entered in 2022 among the 10 most beautiful and evocative living cribs in Italy.

The theme of this 21st edition, scheduled for 29 and 30 December and 1 January, from 5 p.m. to 8.30 p.m., in Piazza Fermi, will be "The path of the last". This event is a symbol of tradition and participation of the entire community of Gasperina, which involves all the associative and aggregative realities and is now an integral part of the history of the area. The event is organised by the "Il Sotterraneo" association.

We are not dealing with the classic living crib, but with a nativity scene where the visitors' walk becomes an active, guided and acted route, which winds its way along about one kilometre of the historic centre, animated by about 180 figures, actors and the association's technical staff. The costumes are made by the association's tailoring workshop with the support of the women of the community of Gasperina, just as the sets, majestic and meticulously crafted to transform the streets of the old town centre, are the work of the association's members and volunteers: a masterpiece that is the result of study and a lot of work to create a sustainable nativity scene thanks to a work of recovery and creative recycling of materials.
