Everything is ready for the traditional Christmas event conceived by the Schola Cantorum Officium Cultural Association of S. Andrea Apostolo dello Jonio (CZ), this year organised with the contribution of the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary and the collaboration of the Parish of Saints Peter and Paul.

The event, which has been held punctually for more than 20 years (in fact, the first edition dates back to 2001), will be held on Wednesday, 27 December 2023, starting at 6 pm, at the Mother Church of Saints Peter and Paul, in the city centre. The event, which over the years has featured numerous choirs and international guests, thanks also to the contribution of the Region of Calabria through the PAC Calabria funds, this year will feature:

  • the host Schola Cantorum Officium itself, conducted by maestro Christian Cosentino;
  • the Polyphonic Choir of the diocese of Mileto (VV) conducted by maestro Giancarlo Colloca;
  • the Vocal Ensemble ABC from Bovalino (RC) conducted by maestro Costantino Scaglione;
  • some young emerging singers from Maestro Christian Cosentino's Music School, who have established themselves at important national festivals and contests, including: Francesca Scicchitano, Nicola Squillace, Maria Grazia Reale, Federica Diaco, Martina Lanciano, Esther Cerullo, Federica Chiera, Veronica Frustagli, Marta Romeo and Anastasia Cosentino;
  • guest of the event little Victoria Cosentino, starring in 2018 on RAI 1 at the Zecchino d'oro with a victory in the social charts and in 2020 on channel 5 at All Together Now Kids with Michelle Hunziker.

The evening's programme, curated meticulously by Christian Cosentino, the event's artistic director, includes performances of Christmas songs from the cultures of various peoples. In fact, the most beautiful Christmas songs will be performed, from the best known carols to songs from the Anglo-American tradition, without neglecting popular songs in the vernacular.

The concert is open to the public and can also be followed in streaming at https://www.facebook.com/scholacantorumofficium

At a time of wars, divisions and disintegration, the Schola Cantorum Officium, together with the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary and the Parish of Saints Peter and Paul, wants to offer a festive moment of serenity and togetherness through the beauty and spirituality of Christmas choral music.
