Calabrian textile art descends from an ancient legacy, born in the era of Magna Graecia and continually renewed through to the present day. What makes the region’s textiles unique is not only their beauty, but also the richness of their materials: plant-based fibers like ginestra (Spanish broom), linen, and silk are combined with fine wool yarns, woven using traditional techniques. The handloom, still in use in some areas, remains a powerful symbol of this age-old art. Geometric patterns and symbolic decorations evolve into a creative language that blends tradition and innovation, culture and experimentation.

長い歴史を持つカラブリアの織物の芸術はマンニャ・グレチャ（大ギリシャ）時代に生まれ、現代まで絶え間なく更新され続けている。カラブリアの織物工業が独特なのは、その美しさだけでなく素材の豊富さにもある。カラブリアでは、エニシダ近種のマメ科植物由来の繊維のほかに、麻、絹などの植物繊維と極上ウールが共存し、これらが伝統的な技法で織られ、編まれる。手織り機は今でもいくつかの地域で現役で、古代から続く芸術を象徴する道具となっている。織られ編まれる幾何学模様や象徴的な装飾は、そのルーツと技術革新、伝統と実験的試みが融合し、創造的な言語のように進化し続けている。
