Regione Calabria

The “Raganello Gorge” Nature Reserve is a protected natural area within the Pollino National Park, in the municipality of Civita, in the province of Cosenza. On the rocky ridges of Timpa di San Lorenzo and Timpa di Porace-Cassano, the imposing walls along the course of the Raganello stream are home to numerous animal and plant species.

The “Raganello Gorge” itself forms a canyon about 17 km long, which starts from the source of the Lamia and reaches the town of Civita, where the characteristic Devil’s Bridge stands: under its legendary arch, the course of the stream becomes more regular and the valley more open. Experts divide the Raganello Gorge Nature Reserve into two parts: the Upper Gorges and the Lower Gorges, which can be explored by canoe by rafting enthusiasts, or by trekking and hiking for those who simply enjoy the outdoors.
