Orthodox Monastery of Sts. Elijah and Philarete

The Orthodox Monastery of Saints Elijah and Filarete in Seminara, in the province of Reggio Calabria, is one of the most interesting Orthodox monasteries in southern Italy and one of the most striking examples of Italo-Greek and Byzantine monasticism in Calabria. Dedicated to the Oriental saints Elijah and Filarete, the Orthodox Monastery of Seminara is immersed in a scenery of centuries-old olive trees and boasts a restoration that has brought it back to its original beauty. Inside, the precious frescoes of the Orthodox tradition have been recovered thanks to the intervention of the Patriarchate of Constantinople.
