The ‘’Lake Tarsia‘’ Regional Nature Reserve, in the municipality of Tarsia in the province of Cosenza, is an oasis of biodiversity and habitat for numerous species of aquatic birds and wildlife. Not to be missed among the Calabrian lakes to visit, Lake Tarsia is an artificial basin influenced by seasonal variations and rainfall that feed the upstream dam.
The eastern part of the reserve is characterised by the extent of unspoilt Mediterranean scrubland, with little human presence, woods, reeds and shallow waters. The ‘’Lake Tarsia‘’ Regional Nature Reserve is an extraordinary guardian of biodiversity, with a total of over 720 plant species and 182 vertebrate animals.
