"Golia Corvo" State Reserve

Natural reserve
The Golia-Corvo Nature Reserve is centrally located on the Sila Grande plateau, in the Cosenza side of the Sila National Park, in the municipality of Longobucco. Its characteristic rocks, mainly granite, surround Lake Cecita, one of the Sila lakes where you can enjoy sports and outdoor activities.
The Golia-Corvo Nature Reserve, not far from the Cupone Visitor Centre, can only be reached on foot by hikers; cars can only access it with prior authorisation. Rich in water, the Golia-Corvo Nature Reserve has ancient vegetation, consisting mainly of a large pine forest of Laricio pine trees that dominate over beech, silver fir and other plant species. In the past, these areas were intensively used by the inhabitants for timber exploitation and resin extraction, as well as by charcoal burners and shepherds.
Today, a large part of the Golia-Corvo Nature Reserve has been fenced off as part of a deer reintroduction programme, with the aim of promoting reproduction and restoring the food chain of which the Sila Wolf is an essential part.
