Galati Beach

It is one of the most fascinating stretches of the Riviera dei Gelsomini. It is no coincidence that this is where the Caretta Caretta sea turtle chooses to lay its eggs. The backdrop is provided by the spectacular embrace of the calanchi, clayey-marly geological formations that give the landscape a lunar appearance.

Galati Beach is located near the Capo Spartivento Lighthouse and the 16th-century Galati Tower, situated in a panoramic position among vineyards and olive groves. The water here is shallow and slopes gently, making this beach ideal for families, who can enjoy the sea in safety, but also for snorkelling enthusiasts, who can explore the surprising and crystal-clear seabed. The fine golden sand alternates with stretches of grey pebbles. Those who want to learn more about the presence and protection of the turtles that nest on Brancaleone beach can visit the Sea Turtle Rescue Centre located nearby, a veritable 'emergency room' where injured specimens are treated and then released back into the crystal-clear waters of the Costa dei Gelsomini.
