Convent of San Francesco di Paola
Place of worship
Built by Pietro Antonio I Sanseverino between 1518 and 1520, included at the beginning only Church of Santa Maria di Loreto. In 1535 the prince promoted the expansion of the church and construction of the convent, donated in the same year to Paolotti Minor Friars. In 1799 the monastery was plundered by cardinal Ruffo, to be finally abolished in the nineteenth century. The building, in panoramic position on the hill of Bonifati, is divided into several blocks that, with the two emerging towers, giving it the appearance of a fortress. It has five levels, including a basement, and opens onto a large open atrium adjacent to the cloister.
