Palazzo Cherubini, Rossano - Associazione Dimore Storiche

One of Calabria's most beautiful Historic Houses, Palazzo Cherubini is located in the centre of Rossano (Municipality of Corigliano-Rossano), in the province of Cosenza. It is an elegant 19th-century building, Neoclassical in style on the outside and Empire on the inside, built after the 1836 earthquake on a former property of the Cherubini family. Inside, the sumptuous Hall of Mirrors stands out, lit by large chandeliers, surrounded by sofas and damask tapestries and enriched by a series of mythological-themed works of art that reflect the philosophy of the family: naturalism, scientific progress and classicism. Another noteworthy room is the Chinese Room, dominated by images and characters evoking the great Asian nation, a further example of the eclecticism of the Capobiancos, creators of a perfect synthesis between Eastern and Western decorations. The history of Palazzo Cherubini in Rossano and the entire family is recounted in an authentic manuscript dated 1804, in which G.B. Cherubini himself lists prominent figures belonging to the family and the town.
