Wellness

A snow-white bathrobe on, time slowing down, the body awakening: nothing is as regenerating as a thermal holiday, which combines the beneficial effects of spring waters with the energy of places immersed in an ancestral nature, the call of which you cannot resist.

If you, too, are daydreaming of being in a spa to eliminate the toxins of a tiring year, all you have to do is get in the car, heading towards Spezzano Albanese. A thermal spa awaits you where you can choose to regenerate your body and mind in the wellness centre (through ancient oriental techniques such as ayurveda and shiatzu) or to experience the prodigious effects of the waters that flow from the slopes of the Mataruffo hill, on the banks of the Esaro river.

Spezzano Thermal Baths, cures and treatments

The thermal park is surrounded by ten hectares of Mediterranean pine and eucalyptus trees. The thermal waters originate from five springs, but two are the most widely used: Fonte Thurio (with saline-bromine-iodine water) and Fonte Acqua delle Grazie (chloride-sodium-hypotonic water) and have a temperature of between 18 and 21 degrees.

Not only relaxation and wellness, the waters of the springs have curative properties and are therefore invaluable in combating small and large ailments. You can practice inhalation cures (aerosol, inhalations, nebulisations, nasal showers, humage), endotympanic insufflations, hydropinic cures and mud-balneotherapy cures with a state-of-the-art facility.

The thermal baths are affiliated with the national health service and it is therefore possible to book services under the accreditation scheme.

What to see in Spezzano Albanese

The panorama of this village nestled in the Esaro Valley will immediately captivate you.

You will then discover a fascinating itinerary through the history and traditions of the Arbëreshë people, who jealously guard their linguistic and cultural heritage, starting with the churches in the historic centre. Don't miss a visit to the Shrine of Santa Maria delle Grazie, built in the 15th century.

Your journey through history will continue with a plunge into an even more distant past, with a stop in front of the ruins of Scribla Castle, which was erected in 1044 to defend the Esaro Valley and hosted Robert Guiscard.

Dominating the valley is the Mordillo Tower, which dates back to the 11th century and was built by the Normans as a lookout point.

A few steps from the tower, continuing the journey back in time, the landing place will be on the plateau that hosts the Archaeological Park. Here you can observe the traces of a stratified history, because it was first inhabited by the Enotrians and then, in the Magna Graecia era, was controlled by the powerful Sybaris. The archaeological finds discovered in this area can be admired in the museums of Sibari, Castrovillari and Spezzano Albanese.
