Are you flying in or out of Crotone Airport? You're in the right place to plan a trip around the area and make your journey even more enjoyable. Crotone-Sant'Anna Airport, named after the philosopher Pythagoras, is located along the SS 106 motorway, on the Isola Capo Rizzuto plateau, 15 km from Crotone.

Located in the municipality of Isola Capo Rizzuto, it can be reached by car, bus and train. It is accessible from both the north and south thanks to the Ionica 106 and 107 state roads (take the Lamezia Terme exit on the motorway, then continue along the state roads). There are shuttle buses to and from Crotone that are coordinated with scheduled flight times.

Just look around to see that the airport is in a unique location, in the heart of Magna Graecia, overlooking the beautiful Costa dei Saraceni, precisely between the archaeological area of Capo Colonna and the promontory of Capo Rizzuto, which borders the Marine Protected Area, one of the main marine parks in the Mediterranean. Let's discover together what to do and see around Crotone Airport.

Discover the archaeological complex of Capo Colonna

About 18 km from the airport, you will find yourself in front of the Capo Colonna National Archaeological Park, the picturesque promontory on which the temple of Hera Lacinia once stood, with its iconic surviving column almost nine metres high, overlooking this spectacular stretch of coastline. Outside the Archaeological Park, you can admire the Capo Colonna Lighthouse and visit the National Archaeological Museum, which houses historical artefacts from ancient Kroton and is open every day.

A dive into the wine district

Strongoli, Melissa and Cirò: this is the unmissable triangle for wine lovers from all over Italy. About 50 km from Crotone Airport, you have the opportunity to enjoy an unforgettable sensory experience. Nature, history, culture and a food and wine tour to savour. You are in the land of Cirò wine, where you can explore historic villages, take guided tours and enjoy tastings in the vineyards, choosing from the many wineries of Calabria's oldest DOC. You can book a tour of the vineyards and a series of tastings directly at the wineries. A visit to the Wine Museum in Cirò is also recommended.

Discover the Capo Rizzuto Marine Protected Area

The blue waters of the Ionian Sea with its beaches and cliffs have surely already won you over, but if you love nature, not far from Crotone Airport, there is a paradise you cannot miss. It is one of the largest natural areas in Italy: the Capo Rizzuto Marine Protected Area. When the season allows, you can dive into the crystal-clear sea, go on boat or kayak trips, or take part in guided tours at the Environmental Education Centre. The Capo Rizzuto Marine Reserve ends near the Aragonese Castle of Le Castella. If you venture this far, you can admire one of the most beautiful castles in Italy, located on a small island connected to the mainland only by a thin strip of sand.
