Sport and nature

Parco Nazionale della Sila - Regione Calabria

Fresh, clean air, unspoilt nature: your holiday in Sila is a regenerating break that will also provide you with moments of fun and pure adrenaline.

If you love outdoor sports, with a little preparation and the right equipment, this will be an unforgettable experience. In fact, the Sila National Park is an area that preserves one of the most important biodiversity heritages in the Mediterranean area and is a perfect destination for nature, sports and adventure lovers, all year round.

In spring, when the air begins to warm up and nature transforms the colours of the park, water trekking can be practised in Sila, i.e. an excursion near rivers and torrents during which some stretches are covered right in the water, obviously using special equipment.

For those who do not want to give up cycling, it is possible in every season to explore the Sila plateau by mountain bike, choosing between routes suitable for the more experienced and trained and those accessible to families with children or beginners. In short, spring is already in the air: all that remains is to plan your next holiday, dedicated to nature and outdoor activities.

Water Trekking in Sila National Park

If you love to immerse yourself in nature, you will love water trekking, which alternates between walking in the water and along trails. It is an activity for everyone and does not require a particularly fit body, which is why families with small children can also do it.

You will be provided with a special waterproof suit (with a watertight bag for items such as your phone or goggles) and rubber boots; remember to bring socks and spare clothing. Groups of hikers are accompanied by an expert guide who, in addition to supervising safety, provides useful explanations on nature and the various environments you will pass through.

In Sila, water trekking can be practised in the Garga river, in the municipality of San Giovanni in Fiore. This is a small watercourse about 10 km long that flows into the Arvo River near the locality of Serralonga, which in turn flows into the Neto River. The course is full of wide and deep pools, some small waterfalls and numerous water slides.
