A stroll along Calabria's most beautiful seafronts
Between waves and sunsets, the seafronts not to be missed

Living slow
Reggio Calabria - Gabbbbeeeer
The scent of salt air, the gentle breeze, the sound of waves. And that feeling of indefinable pleasure, reminiscent of freedom and infinity. What could be more rejuvenating than a walk along the seafront? Each season offers different sensations: peace, relaxation, euphoria, contemplation. In summer, it is the ideal setting for holidays; in autumn and winter, the atmosphere is magical, melancholic and romantic; in spring, it is a warm and enveloping embrace.
If you are in Calabria, it is always the ideal time to go to the beach. Here are the most beautiful seafronts to enjoy a few hours of well-being and fun, all year round.
Falcomatà Seafront in Reggio Calabria
It is the most beautiful kilometre in Italy, as Gabriele D'Annunzio described it, albeit "shortening" it somewhat, given that it is actually 1.7 kilometres long. Walking along it, you cannot help but agree with the poet, because the view is truly breathtaking, with the Strait of Messina opening up before you and touching the horizon in an embrace between sky and sea. The promenade is named after Mayor Italo Falcomatà and is a lively place all year round, to be enjoyed in every season and at all hours of the day. Towering palm trees, contemporary art sculptures (the imposing and enigmatic figures of Rabarama), commemorative monuments and archaeological remains from the Greco-Roman era, a backdrop of Art Nouveau buildings, such as Palazzo Zani, Palazzo Spinelli and Villa Genoese Zerbi. The charm of Reggio Calabria and its Via Marina, as the Falcomatà Seafront is commonly known, lies in this continuous dialogue between the Magna Graecian past and the present of a particularly modern and vibrant city. Close to the pedestrian area, you can admire the Arena dello Stretto, a Greek-style theatre directly opposite the monument dedicated to Vittorio Emanuele III.
Finally, a curious fact: the Reggio Calabria seafront is one of the very few places from which, with a little luck, you can admire the extremely rare phenomenon of the Fairy Morgana. On some particularly sultry days, an evocative optical effect makes Sicily perfectly visible in the image reflected by the sea, so much so that you feel you could reach out and touch it.
Cirò Marina Seafront
If you want to immerse yourself in the scents and colours of the Mediterranean, you must do so in front of Cirò Marina beach, famous for its DOC wine and Blue Flag sea. Its seafront is a place to enjoy all year round, for moments of relaxation or fun. You can stroll at a slow and relaxed pace along the long and picturesque seafront path, with breathtaking views of the crystal clear waters and mountains. The Cirò Marina seafront is always busy and lively, both with residents and tourists, but of course it comes particularly alive on summer evenings thanks to cultural, musical and gastronomic events, making it a vibrant place for socialising and meeting people.

Crotone Seafront
If there is one place you will never forget when leaving Crotone, it is certainly its wonderful seafront, which invites you to take a refreshing and relaxing panoramic walk. The seafront of Crotone is the heart of nightlife and in the evening, with lights lining the pedestrian walkway, it is a sight to behold. It is a space enjoyed by adults and children alike, especially lively during the summer months with bars, stalls and street artists. Romantic for couples in love who exchange kisses and promises in front of the sea, fun for families and groups of friends.

Soverato Seafront
It has been renamed "the pearl of the Ionian Sea" and when you say Soverato, you think of a beautiful stretch of coastline, with turquoise sea and white sand, its wide, well-equipped beach and, of course, its unmistakable seafront. By bicycle, on foot, running or walking slowly to enjoy the view: everyone chooses to enjoy this space as they wish. There are bars and clubs of all kinds, as well as benches, areas equipped for children and for those who want to practise outdoor sports. In summer, the Europa Seafront in Soverato is colourful and filled with music and young people until late at night, but in every season, both day and night, it is a lively and vibrant place, full of people, events and shows. It is ideal for those who want to recharge their batteries and breathe in the fresh air of nature, between the blue of the sea and the green of the pine forest that borders the pedestrian area.
