Awe, adventure, connection with nature. Exploring the seabed is an experience that always gives new sensations, and the Calabrian coast, with its treasures hidden beneath a crystal-clear sea, ensures dreamlike dives.
Whether you are a diving expert or a novice enthusiast, here are the stages for an unforgettable diving holiday.
Among the many good reasons to visit Scilla is undoubtedly the lure of its seabed, which is particularly rich and evocative. You can rely on professional associations that offer assistance, courses and guided dives, even at night.
This ancient fishing village is renowned for its transparent waters in which to explore the depths. You will be enchanted by the walls covered with yellow and red gorgonians and the multitude of fish species that populate the rock formations that grow underwater.
We are accustomed to extolling the beauty of Tropea, its village, the views to be photographed, the beaches. However, not everyone realises that Tropea also offers spectacular underwater landscapes.
One can venture amidst reefs and caves (the most famous is the Blue Cave) simply equipped with masks and snorkel, but the more experienced will choose to enjoy the more challenging experience of diving, accompanied by experienced divers, ready to guide them on unforgettable excursions.
Constantly changing depths and an abundance of fish: damselfish, bream, mullet and the wonderful starfish.
If you love scuba diving, this magical place will win you over. Because Isola Capo Rizzuto is a protected marine area just waiting to be explored. The seabed is very shallow, with the exception of some rocky areas, and in the crystal-clear waters you will also see groupers, mullet and the colourful parrotfish.
Have you ever seen a seahorse? In Soverato, there is a place called ‘Bay of the Hippocampus’ and it has this name because by diving you can admire several specimens of this species whose presence is invaluable, as it indicates the state of health of the sea.
So, not only crystal-clear water and fine white sandy beaches, Soverato is also a place not to be missed for its splendid seabed, ideal for guided dives to discover a varied and unspoilt nature.
Dino Island, Praia a Mare: an island in the middle of the sea, a short distance from the shore. A nature reserve immersed in the Mediterranean maquis, which can be circumnavigated to appreciate its beauty, in and out of the water, with its ravines and sea caves (the most famous are the Grotta Azzurra, the Grotta delle Cascate and the Grotta del Leone), the destination of expert divers and amateurs alike.
Snorkelling is possible around the island, but it is advisable to rely on local experts to ensure an exciting but safe experience.
