Tour of the Greek Area
A journey through villages suspended in time, ancient languages and authentic flavours
Art and Culture
Live an authentic experience in the heart of the Greek-speaking area, discovering Pentedattilo and Bova: two extraordinary villages, symbols of Calabria's Hellenic identity. Amid silent alleys, mysterious legends, ancient artisan workshops and breathtaking views, this tour is a journey into the deep roots of the South.
Programme
Stage 1 - Pentedattilo, the village of legends
The day begins with the arrival in Pentedattilo, the fascinating abandoned village clinging to the Aspromonte rock, which takes its name from its unmistakable five-fingered cliff. An expert guide will accompany you through the alleys and stone houses, recounting the millenary history of the village and the famous legend of the massacre of the Alberti, a tale shrouded in mystery and oral tradition. Along the way, we will visit local artisan workshops where you can discover the secrets of ancient crafts and buy handmade ceramics, textiles and wooden artefacts.
Stage 2 - Typical Calabrian lunch
After exploring Pentedattilo, we will move on to a traditional restaurant to enjoy an authentic lunch of local specialities, prepared with local ingredients and recipes handed down through generations.
Stage 3 - Bova, capital of Greek Calabria
In the afternoon we reach Bova, a medieval village perched on the hills of Aspromonte, listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy. Considered the cultural capital of the Greek minority, Bova still preserves traditions, language and architecture of great value. The guided tour includes:
