Wheat and Scarecrow Festival

From 26 to 28 July 2024, the picturesque hamlet of Pietrarotta di Guardavalle (CZ) will be transformed into a living stage of Calabrian agricultural traditions with the 10th edition of the Wheat and Scarecrow Festival.

The Wheat Festival is not just a celebration, but a real journey through time that allows visitors to rediscover the deep roots of rural civilisation. Through demonstrations, workshops and historical re-enactments, participants will be able to: witness the reaping and threshing of wheat using traditional methods, take part in the creation of breads and typical products, admire the exhibition of ancient agricultural tools, and enjoy folk performances and traditional music.

The Scarecrow Festival will add a touch of creativity and magic to the event, with an exhibition of these iconic figures of peasant culture, made with traditional materials and innovative techniques.

There will also be food stands where you can savour the authentic flavours of the local cuisine, based on the products of the land and recipes handed down from generation to generation.
