Tropea, Enchanted Village

Tropea lights up its Christmas atmosphere and transforms itself into an "Enchanted Village", a widespread trail of lights, installations and initiatives designed to bring the historic centre and the port to life at a time of year when the city shows itself in its most authentic form. The switching on of the lights on 6 December officially inaugurates a rich and engaging programme that will accompany residents and visitors until 6 January.

The 43 light installations, distributed throughout the streets, squares and marina area, and the 55 natural fir trees that will decorate Corso Vittorio Emanuele – destined to be planted in the city's parks – make up a participatory project involving schools, traders and the local community. The atmosphere is made even more spectacular by architectural projectors and gobo mapping on Palazzo Largo Antico Sedile, home of the Pro Loco, and by the return of the Christmas Port Village to the harbour, with scenery, stands and activities for families.

The calendar of events sponsored by the municipality will bring music, travelling shows, markets and entertainment to Piazza Ercole, creating a different experience every day. From gospel on 8 December to the classical repertoire on 25 December, from the popular sounds of Santo Stefano to the grand New Year's Eve concert with fireworks over the sea, each event will contribute to building a bright and shared story of Christmas in Tropea.

The new year will begin on 1 January with a concert by Hosteria di Giò and will end on 6 January with street artists and the street band Ottopiù, who will enliven the day of the Befana with music, bubbles and travelling shows.
