The pleasure of honesty
A timeless classic exploring truth, identity and social conventions

Theatrical
A great work of Italian theatre returns to Calabria with Luigi Pirandello's The Pleasure of Honesty, one of the Sicilian playwright's most representative works, which tackles the themes of truth, identity and social masks with surprising relevance.
On stage is Pippo Pattavina, master of Sicilian theatre and performer of great artistic stature, alongside Francesca Ferro and a cast composed of Debora Bernardi, Riccardo Maria Tarci, Giampaolo Romania, Aldo Toscano, Giuseppe Parisi and Anastasia Caputo. The play is directed by Giampaolo Romania, with sets by Salvo Manciagli, costumes by Pipi Palermo, stage management by Franco Sardo, lighting by Santi Rapisarda and dressmaking by Isabella Sturniolo. Produced by Associazione Culturale Progetto Teatrando.
The Pleasure of Honesty stages a refined theatrical mechanism in which Pirandello unmasks the hypocrisies of bourgeois society, exploring the subtle boundary between appearance and authenticity. At the heart of the story is a profound reflection on human nature and the conventions that govern social relationships, in a game of roles that forces the characters – and the audience – to confront the very meaning of honesty.
The staging offers an opportunity to rediscover a timeless classic through a production capable of restoring all the complexity and dramatic power of the work. In a contemporary context in which truth and transparency seem increasingly fragile, the show invites us to question the value of authenticity and individual responsibility.
The show will be staged on 24 February 2026 at the Teatro Cilea in Reggio Calabria and on 12 March 2026 at the Teatro Comunale in Vibo Valentia.
