The Passion Song

A journey into Calabrian popular spirituality through music and oral narration: on 12 April 2025, ‘’The Passion Song‘’, an event that interweaves art, memory and devotion, will be staged in the Parish of Saints Biagio and Nicola in Scido.

Inspired by ‘’U rivoggiu da Passioni‘’, one of the most intense texts of the Calabrian folk tradition, the show brings to the stage the last moments of Jesus' life from the perspective of folk culture. The text, recovered by Mimmo Martino, becomes the basis and inspiration for a project signed by the Mattanza, who weave together music and words handed down orally, restoring powerful emotions and images through a musical narration dense with meaning.
