The Inspector General

Rocco Papaleo returns to the stage with a brilliant performance in ‘’The Inspector General‘’, a famous play by Nikolai Gogol that ironically unmasks the corruption and hypocrisy of society. Under the direction of Leo Muscato, the play brings to the stage a plot of deceit, cheating and moral baseness, showing a microcosm of corrupt characters, profiteers and businessmen.

Set in Tsarist Russia, the play explores ever-present themes such as corrupt bureaucracy, injustice and abuse, offering a reflection on the social dynamics that transform men. Through sharp and cutting comedy, Gogol denounces the weaknesses of society, revealing uncomfortable truths that resonate even in the present.
