The Flight of Icarus
The myth of Icarus comes to life through art, theatre and performance at MARCA

From 5 December 2025 to 10 January 2026, the MARCA Museum in Catanzaro will host The Flight of Icarus, a multidisciplinary event that transforms myth into a total artistic experience. Conceived and directed by Tania Romeo, the project combines art, theatre, dance, fashion, literature and criticism, transforming the museum spaces into an immersive journey where images, gestures and words recount the symbolic power of the myth and its relevance today.
The opening night will feature internationally renowned artists, performers and scholars, including critic Jean-François Bachis, semiologists Mary Rose Florio and Giuseppe Giglio, as well as artistic personalities such as Antonio Affidato, Salvatore Migale, Ludovica Gualtieri and Maestro Gianni Savarese. Choreography, theatrical performances and live interpretations will give body and voice to the figures of the myth, including Icarus and his mother Naukrates.
The exhibition will present works by numerous contemporary artists and will be accompanied by a literary review and a wood carving workshop, open to all.
