The Amandolea River Trail

The Grecanica area of Aspromonte hosts the Fiumara Amendolea Trail, a sporting event combining nature, adventure and the discovery of one of Calabria's most evocative landscapes.

Starting on Saturday, 21 March in Bova Marina at the Agriturismo Petru N'Toni, the event offers two race distances of 30 and 65 kilometres for trail running and mountain biking enthusiasts. Passing through some of the Grecanica area's most iconic places, the route offers athletes an itinerary immersed in natural landscapes, historic villages and stretches of the spectacular Fiumara Amendolea.

Participants will pass through iconic locations such as Castello Ruffo, Gallicianò and Roghudi on the 30-kilometre route, while the 65-kilometre route will also take in Rocca del Drako, Villaggio Carà, Africo Vecchio, Casalnuovo and Bova.

In addition to the sporting competition, there is also the opportunity to take part in guided trekking activities along the route. These offer hikers and nature lovers an immersive experience of the area's landscapes, history and traditions.

The Fiumara Amendolea Trail combines sport with the promotion of the area, inviting participants and visitors alike to discover one of Aspromonte's most fascinating landscapes and the culture of the Grecanic people.
