From 25 to 27 October 2025, Locri will be turning the spotlight on "Spicy Waves", an event that brings together sea and land, fish and chilli peppers, tradition and innovation. Three days dedicated to taste and culture, part of the travelling festival promoted by GAL Terre Locridee and a partnership of fifteen municipalities in the Locride area, with the aim of promoting the maritime and coastal heritage of the territory.
The programme in Locri, in collaboration with the "Three Days of Fire" initiative organised by the Italian Chilli Pepper Academy and the A Chilli Pepper for the Strait Association, will offer a rich calendar of events combining gastronomy, entertainment and tradition. From 24 to 26 October, numerous restaurants will offer spicy menus inspired by Calabrian cuisine, while on Sunday 26 October, Locri will be the beating heart of the festival with tastings, food and wine stands, typical products and local crafts in Piazza Nassiriya.
The day will begin with the conference "Chilli peppers in all sauces", organised by experts and chefs, followed by in-depth discussions such as the talk The sea at the table: history of fishing, traditions and flavours of Locri and the art installations Spicy Coral and Between Fire and Sea created by architect Pasquale Giurleo. To conclude, the ethnic-folk music of the Nemea group and the irony of Gennaro Calabrese will treat the audience to an evening of celebration and conviviality.
On 27 October, it will be the turn of the younger generation with the educational meeting 'Fishing, a world to discover' at the De Amicis-Maresca Comprehensive School, to raise awareness among the younger generation about the sea and its protection.
