On 8 and 9 November 2025, the Grillo Theatre in Soverato will host a special event dedicated to the theme of memory, care and theatre of the soul. Two days in which cinema, photography and music intertwine to give voice and dignity to the stories preserved in the Girifalco asylum, a place symbolising suffering and rebirth.
The event will begin on Saturday 8 November at 6.30 pm with a free screening of the documentary Uscirai sano (You Will Come Out Healthy) by Barbara Rosanò and Valentina Pellegrino, written by Nicolò Mazza de' Piccioli, with Antonio Marinaro and Francesca Ritrovato. It is an intense story that traces the memories of those who lived and worked within the walls of the former mental hospital, restoring a fragment of humanity that has been forgotten for too long.
On Sunday 9 November, at 5 p.m. and 8.45 p.m., Una spina nella carne (A Thorn in the Flesh) will be staged, a preview of the 2025/2026 theatre season. The show, conceived by Francesca Ritrovato and Fabio Macagnino, combines music and poetry to give voice to the forgotten women of the Girifalco asylum, transforming memory into art and testimony.
On both days, visitors will be able to view the photographic exhibition by Paolo Migliazza, who, with his sensitive gaze, immortalises faces, spaces and signs of a past that continues to speak to the present.
