Santa Maria del Cedro in the scents and flavours of Calabria Straordinaria

The "Santa Maria del Cedro nei profumi e nei sapori della Calabria Straordinaria" event is being held over two days.

The first is entitled "Il Borgo Divino" and starts on 16 December at 5 p.m. with a conference to be held in a location in the historic centre on the analysis of territorial resources useful for the creation of a food and wine tourism system - experiential, capable of extending the length of the tourist season in the area, not only during the summer period. The mayor of the municipality of Santa Maria del Cedro and president of the GAL Riviera dei Cedri Ugo Vetere, the president of the pro-loco of Santa Maria del Cedro Franca Mancuso, two experts in the wine sector and the president of Umpli Antonello Grosso La Valle will take part in the conference. At the end of the conference, there will be an exhibition and tasting session for visitors, who will be able to linger at the various stands manned by producers and expert sommeliers who will provide technical information on the wines and production companies. There will be other gastronomic stands run by local operators and associations. Followed by a musical evening with artists Biagio Accardi and Roberta Sestino.

The second day called "Bread, Oil and Archaeology" will take place on 17 December from 10 a.m. in the Laos Archaeological Park. A round table discussion on the importance and development of the area's olive-growing sector is planned. Speakers will include the archaeologist Maria Eva Benvenuto, the president of the Accademia del Peperoncino Enzo Monaco, the director of the Consorzio Tutela Olio Calabria IGP Giuseppe Perri, the oenogastronome Guglielmo Gigliotti, and the director of the GAL Riviera dei Cedri Amoroso Domenico. At the end of the discussion, there will be a guided tasting by an expert oil taster who will entertain the participants on the parameters and methods for assessing the quality of oil, and an archaeologist will be present to give a guided tour of the Laos site.
