Festival History

The Reggio Film Fest, offers film buffs a series of screenings and meetings in a setting of great cultural and natural beauty, such as the Seafront of the city of Reggio Calabria. Historically, the mission of the Reggio Film Fest is the promotion of film culture in Calabria, with a particular interest in enhancing Calabrian locations, actors and authors, and film works born, raised and developed in the region.

19th edition 2025

From 15 to 20 September 2025, Reggio Calabria will become the capital of cinema with the nineteenth edition of the Reggio Calabria Film Fest. An unmissable event for enthusiasts and professionals of the seventh art, which this year will take place in new and evocative locations in the heart of the city: Piazza Giuseppe De Nava, the Pietro De Nava Municipal Library, the Odeon Cinema-Theatre and the National Archaeological Museum, increasingly prominent as a cultural and artistic hub.

The theme chosen for this edition, "Eternal Beauty, Living Identity", celebrates the link between cinema and the local area and pays tribute to the unforgettable Reggio actress Gianna Maria Canale. Six days packed with events, including screenings, talk shows, book presentations, masterclasses and meetings, offering opportunities for reflection, entertainment and excitement.

There will be no shortage of prominent guests – actors, directors and industry experts – for a festival that remains one of the most eagerly awaited events of the Calabrian cultural autumn. Among the historical sections, the Millennial Movie short film competition, dedicated to young talent, returns and has seen extraordinary participation this year.
