From 31 October 2025, Cosenza and Rende will host the First Biennial Philosophy Festival, a major event dedicated to dialogue, research and critical thinking. It will be an opportunity to bring philosophy back to the people, into everyday life, restoring its original role: to question reality and generate collective consciousness.
Conceived and chaired by Stefania Maranzano, founder of the Civitas Solis Cosenza aps association, the Biennial will kick off at the State Archives of Cosenza with the first philosophical marathon, 'Bernardino Telesio and Nature', a tribute to the Cosenza philosopher who revolutionised the way we observe the world. The macro-theme of this edition is 'Nature', explored through conferences, dialogues, documentary exhibitions, concerts and staged readings. The exhibition will continue until December with three other main events: 'Interactions' and 'Interconnections' at the National Library of Cosenza and 'Intelligence and Psyche' at the State Archives, which will conclude with the presentation of the 'Sigillo di Alarico' award.
A distinctive feature of the Biennale is the active involvement of schools and students, who will be the protagonists of the 'Philosophical Salons at School' and activities linked to the Museum System of the University of Calabria, including visits and workshops dedicated to learning about nature and its forms.
From the historic centre to museums, from libraries to city clubs, the Biennale will transform Cosenza and Rende into a laboratory of ideas open to all, where philosophical thought becomes a shared experience and a tool for freedom.
