Passion and Resurrection of Christ in Altilia

On Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 8 p.m., the picturesque village of Altilia (CS) will be transformed into an open-air stage for one of the most intense and eagerly awaited representations of the year.

Among the ancient streets and timeless views, the tale of the Passion and Resurrection of Christ will come to life through a touching re-enactment, capable of combining tradition, spirituality and community involvement.  The 2026 edition broadens the narrative by offering a reinterpretation of the Passion through the lens of individuals throughout history who have recognized the divine in the least and the suffering. Alongside the Gospel protagonists, references are made to St. Francis of Paola, who exemplifies humility in service; Gioacchino da Fiore, who embodies hope spanning the centuries; Dante Alighieri, who symbolizes the journey from darkness to light; and the Roman soldier destined for conversion.

Over a hundred actors and extras, along with the theater companies of Belsito and Mangone, contribute to a collaborative production that engages the entire community, turning the performance into a shared experience that fosters a sense of collective identity.
