On Saturday 19 July 2025, Tarsia will go back in time to host the second edition of the Norman Villages Palio and the Festival of Typical Tarsian and Calabrian Dishes: a day dedicated to rediscovering the historical and gastronomic roots of the area, with medieval re-enactments, authentic flavours and stories from the past.
The event aims to strengthen the link with Norman history and promote the cultural heritage of the historic centre. The programme:
7:30 p.m. – Festival of Typical Dishes
A rich gastronomic offering prepared by the Circolo Anziani: traditional recipes from Tarsia and Calabria, also presented from a nutritional point of view thanks to the presence of a specialist who will illustrate their values.
9:00 p.m. – Debate “Tarsia in Norman Calabria”
An opportunity for in-depth discussion with archaeologists, historians and institutional representatives, including Maria Brunella Stancati, Damiano Pisarra of the ABAP Superintendency of Cosenza and Saverio Bianco, an expert in medieval heraldry. During the meeting, the latest archaeological discoveries in Piazza Castello will be presented.
9:45 p.m. – Reading of the Proclamation and historical re-enactment
The spectacular highlight of the evening: the official ceremony of the Palio dei Borghi, with flag throwers, archers from Sila and costumed figures, will enliven the streets of the village with ancient games and the atmosphere of times gone by.
