On November 23 at 7:00 p.m., in the Church of San Giuseppe in Lamezia Terme, as part of the 48th MusicAMA Calabria, “Canto delle Creature – Suoni, parole e canti a custodia del Creato” (Song of the Creatures – Sounds, words, and songs to protect Creation) will be staged, a concert-story conceived by Ambrogio Sparagna dedicated to the profound relationship between man and nature.
Inspired by St. Francis of Assisi's Canticle of the Creatures and a rich heritage of lauds, popular prayers, and traditional songs, the project combines poetry, music, and spirituality. Sparagna, poet Davide Rondoni, and soloists from the Italian Popular Orchestra of the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome guide the audience through ancient melodies and traditional instruments—from shells to bark flutes, from hurdy-gurdies to torototela—in a musical journey through centuries of popular culture: work and travel songs, invocations of community rituals, and moments of wonder at the power of creation.
An invitation to rediscover the voice of nature and to recognize, in song, the most authentic bond between man and the world around him.
