Marchesato Trekking & Culture 2023 - Monte Pescaldo e Umbriatico

The third edition of "Marchesato Trekking & Culture 2023" will take place in June, July and August.

Six stages to discover and appreciate in order to get to know the inland areas of the Marchesato Crotonese at their best: a treasure chest of biodiversity characterised by naturalistic, historical and scenic evidence of poignant beauty. Marchesato Trekking & Culture offers tourists and locals the opportunity to enjoy an exciting experience in contact with nature and local culture, amidst gullies and biancane, old abandoned railways, salt sculptures, rivers, mountains and villages suspended in time.

Quite remarkably, the calanchi (gullies) in Cutro and elsewhere were long forgotten after Pasolini, until a group of young locals got together because of the danger of a landfill site and thought that the place deserved more than just a landfill site, and so the Calanchi del Marchesato association was born, which went from being a movement to a social promotion association for the protection and enhancement of the calanchi landscape. In addition to hiking and trekking, they organise musical events, theatre, dance and performances of various kinds.

The initiative is organised by the Calanchi del Marchesato Association and under the patronage of the municipalities of Cutro and Roccabernarda.

Booking for the excursion is required, we recommend:
